Genetic engineering is the scientific alteration of the structure of genetic material in a living organism. It involves the production and use of recombinant DNA and has been employed to create bacteria that synthesise insulin and other human proteins. It appears to be one of the fundamental aspects of biotechnology, which is an industry that Singapore has been injecting a lot of capital into. We decided to do this project on genetic engineering because it will be a major part of the global scene in the future, and thus, we feel that it would be beneficial to learn more about it now.
